 NEW YORKERS AGAINST CORRUPTION

"This November, New York voters will again vote whether or not to hold a state Constitutional Convention. Well-funded special interests and their lobbyists have already joined forces and are ready to spend millions in support of this referendum. This ballot question, however, could trigger devastating changes to the state constitution that would harm regular New Yorkers. Whether it’s the right to a quality public education, protections for our natural resources or defending our personal liberties and freedoms, a Constitutional Convention would give the big-money special interests, political insiders and lobbyists the ability to rewrite the State Constitution for their own benefit. Groups of hard-working New Yorkers from across the political spectrum are working to oppose this hundreds of millions of dollars boondoggle—a Constitutional Convention that would cater not to the people’s wishes, but to the worst of corrupt, Albany special-interest politics.

THE REASONS TO VOTE "NO" ON A CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION.

Is estimated to cost taxpayers a staggering $300 million. These are critical funds that should be used for education, fire and police protection, and tax cuts.
Will be run by the same politicians, lobbyists and special interest groups who have gamed the system for their own benefits, and led to rampant corruption in Albany.
Delegates to the convention are paid almost $80,000. They also get to hire their own staff, including their friends and relatives.
There is no timeframe for the completion of the convention process, and therefore the cost could become astronomical.
It would be very easy for extremist groups to hijack the convention, and force their radical agenda on all of us.

Hardworking NY families are voting NO on a Constitutional Convention."

POVERTY IN ITALY - My Native Country.
POVERTÀ IN ITALIA - Il Mio Paese Natale.

OUR COUNTRY, and the WORLD, NEED EFFECTIVE ANSWERS and SOLUTIONS FROM OUR LEADERS; NOT RHETORIC (empty words, and/or lies), NOT PERPETUAL GRIDLOCK (disagreement), BUT COOPERATION and HONEST HARD WORK, in order to ACCOMPLISH WHAT ITALY, AMERICA and the WORLD NEED!

WE NEED EFFECTIVE leaders (their party is not important!) who have; CHARACTER, ABILITY/SKILL, and sense of RESPONSIBILITY and DUTY TO THE ITALIAN/AMERICAN VALUES OF SOCIAL JUSTICE, HARD WORK, COMPETENCE, HUMILITY (not arrogance), and RESPECT for all LEVELS OF OUR SOCIETY!  But work especially those who are at the bottom of the economic ladder; the needy, the unemployed young, the poor elders, etc., And not just for banks and multinational corporations.

WE MUST ELECT ONLY THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE HONEST, INTELLIGENT, INFORMED and COMPETENT!
DOBBIAMO eleggere solo quelle persone che sono onesti, intelligenti, informati e competenti!

BUT WE, all citizens,  ALSO MUST DO OUR PART, our honest worker's duty! WE CAN'T JUST BLAME OUR POLITICAL LEADERS/GOVERNMENTS.
Ma anche noi, tutti i cittadini, dobbiamo fare la nostra parte, il nostro dovere di persone e lavoratori oneste! Non possiamo incolpare i nostri leaders politici e/o i nostri governi.

28 AMENDMENT to the Constitution is needed to take big money out of our political system!

Please join me; sign a pledge, write to your political representatives in Congress and in your State, and support efforts to establish a 28th amendment to overturn Citizens United.

I HAVE ALREADY DONE SO! I signed a pledge, wrote to my political representatives in Congress and in NY State. I hope that you will do the same and support efforts to establish a 28th amendment to overturn Citizens United.
Let me present you 7 reasons why we must support this proposal.

FIRST
8 out of 10 Americans agree that our political system is out of control and our democracy is in crisis. Since 2012, over 30 Billion dollars has poured into campaigns from corporations, unions and the wealthy. This unlimited dark money undermines the collective voice of, We the People.

SECOND
A 28th amendment would overturn the 2010 Citizens United Supreme Court decision which gave human constitutional rights to corporations and struck down laws that provided limits on campaign spending with increasingly frightening consequences. Here are a few examples.

THIRD
When the fossil fuel industry and other corporate polluters make large campaign contributions, action on climate change and protecting our land, air and water is thwarted.

FOURTH
When Wall Street firms make large campaign contributions and financial corruption brings our economy to the brink, Wall Street executives go unpunished and U.S. citizens have to bail them out. Too many citizens lose their jobs, homes, and life savings.

FIFTH
When high net worth individuals make large campaign contributions, tax cuts for the rich remain a high priority and income inequality takes a backseat.

SIXTH
When large corporations purchase political access and hollow-out Main Street, small businesses can’t compete, and they go under.

SEVENTH
When Americans learn about these realities we see the urgency in passing a 28th Amendment to the US Constitution. A 28th amendment would give us the right to place reasonable limits on campaign contributions and restore human liberty to citizens, not corporations. And by doing so, we'll finally be able to forward action on climate change, income equality, gender equality, race equality, safer communities, and clean air and safe water.

"By signing the pledge, you will joined a movement -- not just an email list. Together with citizens like you, American Promise will help pass and ratify a new constitutional amendment so that we citizens can rebalance democracy in which we govern ourselves - no matter what our status or net worth - and ensure our government reflects and represents the equality that we hold dear, not money.
Right now, the national Citizen Uprising is growing across the country, as 18 states have already passed resolutions and citizens continue to organize for a 28th Amendment in their respective states and localities.
Throughout this journey, we aim to provide citizens like you with campaign updates, opportunities for engagement, and the tools needed to grow the Citizen Uprising where you live.
Stay up-to-date with American Promise stories and news along the way on Facebook.
Thanks again for joining the movement to take back our democracy.
Together, we will win.
Jeff Clements
President - American Promise"

THE COLOR OF PARADISE...
is intensely emotional and an unforgettable story of love and doubt.
I enjoyed this story! It was full of; good emotions, of natural and human beauty, love, but also insecurity, selfishness, doubt and indecision.
The father (in this film), lost his dad at a tender age. Then as a man he looses his wife, who dies at a young age, and leaves him with 3 children, including a blind boy, Mohamed. The father is torn between a new life, with a new wife, and abandoning this blind son- he feels the boy is too much of a burden on him. But Mohamed's grandmother disagrees with her son's selfish motives- she loves the boy more than her life!
Will the father have the courage to abandon this child? Will he do it? Watch it and find the tragic end.
This is a story that begs to question our lives as fathers. What would we (those who are fathers) do, in such a situation?

Storyline
Mohammad, a boy at Tehran's institute for the blind, waits for his dad to pick him up for summer vacation. While waiting, he realizes a baby bird has fallen from its nest: he chases away a cat, finds the bird, climbs a tree, and puts it back. His father finally comes and takes him to their village where his sisters and granny await. The lad is a loving student of nature and longs for village life with his family, but his father is ashamed of him, wanting to farm the boy out to clear the way for marriage to a woman who knows nothing of this son. Over granny's objections, dad apprentices Mohammad far from home to a blind carpenter. Can anything bring father and son together?
