GETTING CLOSE TO MY TARGET OF $ 1,000 FOR THE SCHENECTADY (NY) CROP WALK FOR THE HUNGRY! Thank you for YOUR KINDNESS/GENEROSITY in making pledges/donations for this cause! This WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE! GOD BLESS YOU! I ALSO ASK FOR PRAYERS FOR PEACE- BECAUSE WARS BRING AND INCREASE POVERTY in the world.
CAN WE END POVERTY with CROP WALKS?

Probably not, however as Christians our duty is to help those in need- which is exactly what Jesus commanded us to do- to be merciful. In fact, He reminded us again in a message for humanity, to Saint Faustina Kolwaska in 1933.
He said and I quote:
“I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this, or try to absolve yourself from it.”

So, if you’d still like to support this cause, you may do so, by coming to the Sch'dy Crop Walk this Sunday, May 7th.
The Walk Starts/Ends; Emmanuel Friedens Church, 218 Nott Terrace, Sch’dy, 12307
Walk begins at 1:30 (5Km, optional mile available, runners welcome - not a race).

Let me share a few statistics on poverty here in the US and overseas;
Almost 46 million Americans live in poverty - If you’re wondering what it means to be poor in America- it’s a family of 4 living on less than 25 thousand dollars per year.
The UN refugee Agency tells us that the number of refugees in 2016 stood at over 65 million. These were people who had to flee their countries because of wars, terrorism and persecutions. Over a million of these refugees have crossed the Mediterranean Sea and landed in Italy, Malta and Greece. But thousand of them have perished (drowned/died) in this effort.
And at this time Wars in 4 countries in Northern Africa are causing famine to 20 million people. This is according to an article written by the Washington Post and published in the Sch’dy Daily Gazette, on this April 12, titled: "Wars in four countries brings famine to 20M")

And finally, according to Catholic Relief Services: nearly 800 million people in the world suffer from malnutrition. This is a drop of 200 million in the number of hungry people in the last 10 years- and it should encourage any of us who are committed to ending global hunger.
