This February many democratic senators in Congress voted for the 2019 military budget of $ 717 BILLION - an increase of $ 83 BILLION from the 2017 budget. In addition, the 2019 budget was quickly approved, the fastest in the last in 47 years! Senator Schumer is one of the many "corporate" democratic senators who voted for it.
I realize that the US needs a strong defense, however, $717 BILLION is way too much! When our country and the world have BIGGER NEEDS, like agreeing w/other nuclear countries to REDUCE NUCLEAR WEAPONS, POLLUTION, HELPING the MILLIONS OF PEOPLE FLEEING THEIR HOMES/COUNTRIES; BECAUSE OF WARS, PERSECUTION, DROUGHTS and FAMINE. Right now in Syria and in many North African nations, over 10 million people, are facing a humanitarian disaster because of these wars.
I believe that our tax dollars could be better spent ON BUILDING OUR NATION AND MAKING THE WORLD BETTER. Because not enough is being spent ON ECONOMIC PROSPERITY (not the war industry/machines/weapons), on RENEWABLE ENERGIES and REBUILDING INFRASTRUCTURE, like roads, hospitals, schools, rail systems and/or lines/trains. By the way, the US's rail system is antiquated compared to many countries (e.g. Europe and Asia), and of course billions should be spent on KEEPING SOCIAL SECURITY and the ENVIRONMENT SAFE, and last, but not least, our government should work and provide HEALTH CARE FOR EVERYONE, as they do in many other countries!
These social priorities would make America great again. It's not the war business that will make the world safer! It's simple; more weapons = more wars, more destruction, more suffering, more poverty and more death!

WORLD'S POVERTY STATISTICS, According to;
- CRS, Catholic Relief Services: nearly 800 million people suffer from malnutrition- they don’t have enough to eat.
- Reports in the Washington Post and the Sch’dy Gazette: political instability in Libya, and wars in the North African countries of Sudan, Yemen, Nigeria, Somalia threaten 20 million people- more than any time since WWII."
These and other wars, have causes a huge world wide humanitarian crisis with 65 million refugees- millions of them have fled to Europe.
