HACKSAW RIDGE is a GREAT STORY and FILM! IT SHOWED a TRUE CHRISTIAN; WHO HAD FAITH, CONVICTION and a COURAGE against all odds. A person, whom many considered a coward, but never relented in his Christian beliefs. I watched it this weekend and I loved this American hero- a conscientious  objector- someone who didn't believe in violence- a young man, a medic- who refused to hold a weapon during WWII. 
The level of violence in this film is astonishingly realistic, but so is Desmond Doss courage. In fact he is the only person to receive the Medal of Honor, the military highest honor, without ever firing a single shot! Pretty astonishing! Isn't it? 
But you shouldn't be shocked or unbelieving, because if you're  believer in miracles, and of course if you believe in God, then you must accept the fact that this man saved 75 people!  And that cannot be a coincidence!
