A Letter to NY leaders in Congress. SHAME ON YOU!
President Obama, VP Joe Biden, Senator Gillibrand, Schumer, and Congressman Tonko,
I have been a strong supporter of you, the democratic party and the President, but now am really disappointed about this UNFAIR Act that gives Monsanto authority to do what they want. Could you explain to me why the President and Congress did this?
 

President Barack Obama has signed a bill into law that was written in part by the very billion-dollar corporation that will benefit directly from the legislation.

On Tuesday, Pres. Obama inked his name to H.R. 933, a continuing resolution spending bill approved in Congress days earlier. Buried 78 pages within the bill exists a provision that grossly protects biotech corporations such as the Missouri-based Monsanto Company from litigation.

With the president’s signature, agriculture giants that deal with genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and genetically engineered (GE) seeds are given the go-ahead to continue to plant and sell man-made crops, even as questions remain largely unanswered about the health risks these types of products pose to consumers.

In light of approval from the House and Senate, more than 250,000 people signed a petition asking the president to veto the spending bill over the biotech rider tacked on, an item that has since been widely referred to as the “Monsanto Protection Act.”

“But Obama ignored [the petition],”IB Times’ Connor Sheets writes, “instead choosing to sign a bill that effectively bars federal courts from being able to halt the sale or planting of GMO or GE crops and seeds, no matter what health consequences from the consumption of these products may come to light in the future.”

James Brumley, a reporter for Investor Place, explains a little more thoroughly just how dangerous the rider is now that biotech companies are allowed to bypass judicial scrutiny. Up until it was signed, he writes, “the USDA [US Department of Agriculture] oversaw and approved (or denied) the testing of genetically modified seeds, while the federal courts retained the authority to halt the testing or sale of these plants if it felt that public health was being jeopardized. With HR 933 now a law, however, the court system no longer has the right to step in and protect the consumer.”

If the president’s signature isn’t all that surprising, though, consider the genesis  (origin, source) of the bill itself. According to an article published Monday in the New York Daily News, US Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Missouri) “worked with Monsanto to craft the language in the bill.”

Because without roots, trees or plants (and people) cannot live- they dry up, fall down and die!  
Perche' senza le radici un'albero, o una pianta (cosi anche l'uomo), non possono vivere, secca, cade e muore!

OR DO WE do the right thing- TAKE CARE/DEFEND/UNDERSTAND OF ALL OF THEM? ARE ALL of them IMPORTANT TO US? Or DO WE LOOK/care  ONLY FOR SOME AND DON'T care/SEE OTHERS? DID WE MAKE SOME TRANSPARENT and INSIGNIFICANT? ARE WE KIND OR MEAN? COOPERATIVE OR SELFISH? ARE WE GIVING/GENEROUS and FORGIVING? OR ARE WE REVENGEFUL, INTOLERANT and/or STUBBORN? IN CONCLUSION,  I THINK THAT WE MUST ASK OURSELVES THESE QUESTIONS IN THE QUEST FOR A GOOD RELATIONSHIP FOR OUR FAMILY. What is is that binds/unites our families? What keeps us together? Is it love? respect? or control, fear, manipulation and revenge? Therefore, when need be, when we make mistakes are aren't careful (by being uncaring and selfish), we need to adjust our attitudes and actions. It is important to do this as needed, every time we go off course (we misbehave) with our families, so that we have a good relationship- one that is based on respect and consideration. And sometimes, when necessary, we need to apologize, ask for forgiveness. If we do this we'll gain our family's respect/love.
So what is family for me? Simple, it is that group of people that treats you well (and when you make a mistake they gently correct you- because they know/realize/understand that they aren't perfect either- they have made mistakes too), they loves you, protects and respects you. To be able to do this is not easy, because each person is different- God doesn't make copies!- But with God's help we can do it!

IN CONCLUSIONE, PENSO CHE DOBBIAMO FARCI QUESTE DOMANDE IN MODO CHE CI METTANO IN UNA BUONA RELAZIONE FAMILIARE. Cose' che unische le nostre familglie? Cose' che li tiene assieme? E' l'amore, il respetto, il perdono? sono il controllo la prepotenza, la paura, manipolazione e la vendetta? Quindi mi sembra ovvio, che a volte- quando sbagliamo nei confronti della nostra familgia, o quando o non siamo attenti (incoscienti e egoisti) - sara' necessario aggiustare la nostra rotta/direzione (le nostre azioni e atteggiamenti verso la nostra famiglia) per avere una buona relazione, che sia basata sul rispetto, e la considerazione. E a volte (quando sbagliamo) sara' necessario chiedere scusa e perdono. Se facciamo queste cose, ci guadagneremo il rispetto e l'affetto dei nostri familiari.


Allora, cos'e la famiglia per me? Semplice, e' quel gruppo di persone che ti trattano bene (e quando fai sbagli ti correggono gentilmente- perche' sanno/si rendono conto/capiscono che anche loro non sono perfetti- perche' anche loro hanno fatto errori), ti vogliono bene, ti proteggono e ti rispettano.  Essere capaci di far questo non e' facile, perche' ogni persona e diversa dalle altre- Dio non fa' copie!- ma con il Suo aiuto, l'aiuto del Signore, possiamo farcela!
Queste immpressioni/opinion e fatti sono basati piu' che altro sulla mia esperienza. Sono sposato da 26 anni, ho due figli, un fratello e una sorella (anche loro sposati e con figli) e tanti parenti, purtroppo lontani, in Italia.
These impressions/opinions/facts are based more or less on my experiences. I have been married for 27 years and I have two children, two siblings (also married and have children), and unfortunately most of my relatives are far away, they live in Italy.

AMERICA THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE VIOLENT! Does AMERICA LOVE GUNS MORE THAN its CHILDREN?

Today- several days after another brutal and senseless mass killing in the US, by a lone gunman-  my answer to the question I ask in the title- is an unquestionable, Yes! America loves weapons! and gun rights more than its children! But, I am not happy to say/think it. In fact, I say it with this with heartfelt sorrow. I ask myself how could the land of the free and the beautiful turn into the land of ugly and thousands of murders? 

I have nothing against people owning guns for self defense and/or for recreation, and although I know how to use a handgun and the M-16 rifle -I had to learn how to use them in the military- I personally don't own a gun and/or any other weapon (because, thank God, I never had the need to use one to defend myself), however I am in favor of sensible and effective gun legislation. 

I realize that most people in America use them responsibly, however, it is has been clear (for over decade now) that too many guns are in the hands of individuals who are sick and use guns to slaughter innocent people at will.
But the fact that makes me sick even more is the reality that our government is unwilling to pass sensible and effective gun legislation (laws) that could deter, prevent, and contrast, routine mass killings that have been taking place in our country, the USA, for many years now. To those people who say that guns are not responsible it is an outrage! If deranged people didn't have them they couldn't kill so many- almost 10 thousand a year! This is truly unacceptable! Immoral, it repulsive and it must stop. 

I am a father of two children, a teacher and a member of the military, and simply cannot accept the fact that in America, civilians kill almost 10 thousand people every year! Three times more than the people we lost on 9/11! by the hands of terrorist! We lost 6,000 GIs (veterans) in the Iraqi war, which lasted 12 years! And in the 1970s we lost 52,000 veterans in the Vietnam war, which also lasted many years. Take a look at the facts, at national and worldwide statistics on gun violence! 

America is indeed the most violent nation on earth! And that's not a cause for celebration! That's a cause to make us upset and propel (motivate) us positive/effective action. We should force our government that it is about time they take into action, to priotect us, and do something to prevent, or at the very least reduce (bring down) these killings, the senseless bloodshed.  
I call on all decent and people of good will to rebel peacefully and effectively, and demand legislation from our state and federal government leaders to have the courage to stand up to the gun lobby, the gun makers/dealers, so that the hands of violent criminals and the deranged (sick) who are continuing this bloodshed that is destroying our children, and polluting American streets with innocent blood. 

I know God isn't pleased with this pervasive violence- so many murders- so many innocent people slaughtered like animals! How can we let it continue unchecked? We are paying a terrible a price, but there will be another one, which we will have to pay the day we face God and will have to answer to Him, His justice, for our inaction, lack of initiative and indifference in doing our part in solving this problem.
May God give us the courage to act and show our commitment and love to our children, not the guns! Let's ask ourselves the question that I wrote above, Does AMERICA LOVE GUNS MORE THAN its CHILDREN?
I hope the answer will soon change and be: we love our children more and we are willing to do what is right to protect them better!

 

Today is the Feast of San Francis. Let's be instruments (people) who build and protect peace. May San Micheal help us. Let's also pray this (above) prayer often for our protection against all evil and violence.

AMERICA LA TERRA DELLA LIBERTA' e della VIOLENZA! AMERICA COSA AMI DI PIU'? LE PISTOLE O I TUOI figli?

Questo giovedi c'e' stato un un'altro omicidio, UNA SPARATORIA, di massa brutale e senza senso negli Stati Uniti, come al solito da un pistolero, UN PAZZO, solitario. La mia risposta che ho posto nel titolo- è un indiscutibile, e' un sì! L'America ama le armi! e le armi da fuoco più dei suoi figli! Mi dispiace molto dire e pensare che purtroppo questa e' la realtà negli States. E lo dico con sincerita'.. Mi chiedo come puo' la nazione che rapresenta la liberta' nel mondo essere sommersa da tanti omicidi?

Non ho nulla contro le persone che possiedono armi per la loro difesa personale/familiare, o quelli che usano le armi per sport. E anche so' come usare una pistola e il fucile M-16 - perche' ho fatto il servizio militare per tanti anni- ma personalmente non possiedo una pistola o altre armi (perché, grazie a Dio, non ne ho mai avuto bisogno peri difendermi), pero' sono a favore di una legislazione ragionevole ed efficace per controllare le armi da fuoco, per tenerli lontani dai pazzi e dai criminali violenti. Ecco cosa c'e di bisogno negli Stati Uniti per tamponare questo fiume di sangue, pazzi che sparano nelle folle senza nessun motivo.

Mi rendo conto che la maggior parte delle persone in America usano le armi da fuoco in modo responsabile, tuttavia, è piu' che ovvio, chiaro (da oltre dieci anni ormai) che troppi armi, pistole e fucili, sono nelle mani di individui che sono malati (pazzi) e usano armi per massacrare persone innocenti, quando vogliono. Tuttavia, il fatto che mi fa male ancora di più è il nostro governo Americano che non è disposto a passare la leggi per fermare questi squilibrati. C'e di bisogno di leggi ragionevoli ed efficaci che possano fermare, tamponare, le uccisioni di massa di routine che hanno luogo nel nostro paese, gli Stati Uniti- gia' da molti anni. A quelle persone che dicono che le armi da fuoco non sono responsabili io gli dico: dite fesserie! Se la gente squilibrata puo' sparare a volonta' e uccidere tanti in una sola volta. infatti ne vengono trucidati quasi 10 mila all'anno negli USA! Questo è davvero inaccettabile! Immorale, ripugnante e dobbiamo fermarli.

Io sono un padre di due figli, un insegnante e un membro delle forze armate, e non posso accettare il fatto che l'America e' ridotta a un campo di battaglia. Quasi quasi 10 mila persone perdono la vita! In nessun altro paese al mondo c'e una guerra del genere!! Tre volte di più delle persone che perirono nell'attacco terroristico di 9/11!

L'America è davvero il paese più violento del mondo! E questo non è un motivo per festeggiare! Questo è il momento buono per dire al nostro governo che è giunto il momento che si muovano per fare qualcosa, per evitare spargimento di sangue senza Invito tutti decente e persone di buona volontà di ribellarsi (pacificamente), e chiedere leggi forti da parte dei nostri politici statali e federali, i capi di governo di avere il coraggio di ribbellarsi alla lobby delle armi, produttori / venditori, in modo che le mani dei criminali e dei squilibrati vengano attaccate in modo da fermare il fiume di sangue che sta' distruggendo i nostri figli e inquinando per le strade americane con sangue innocente.

So che Dio non è contento di questa violenza- pervasiva- tanti innocenti massacrati come animali! Come possiamo far finta di niente? Stiamo pagando un terribile prezzo, ma ci sarà un altro prezzo ancora piu' grosso, che dovremo pagare il giorno in cui ci troveremo di fronte a Dio, e risponderemo a Lui per la nostra inerzia, mancanza di iniziativa e l'indifferenza- non aver fatto il nostro meglio, la nostra parte, per risolvere questo problema sanginoso e vergognoso . Che Dio ci dia il coraggio di agire e di dimostrare il nostro impegno e l'amore per i nostri figli, e non le nostre armi! AMERICANI, ALLORA CHIEDITI ANCORA UNA VOLTA: Chi ami di piu' i tuoi figli o i tuoi diritti individuali, come il diritto di avere e usare armi da fuoco? Spero che presto la risposta cambierà!
